Homer Coffman joined Baldwin County Public School in 2012 as Chief Technology Officer and IT Director, providing strategic oversight of districtwide instructional and information technology activities, sponsoring innovation and managing IT services for over 47 schools and 32,000 students.

Homer brings over 40 years of experience in engineering, strategic leadership, organization development, project management and information systems. He has a diverse background, including higher education, K-12, the military, Consumer Price Goods (CPG) industry, eCommerce, and Telecommunications. Homer’s areas of expertise include strategic planning, leadership, ERP implementations and upgrades, project management, data center management, 1:1 implementations and IT governance. He has led numerous strategic projects that leverage technology to transform business and educational processes. 

Prior to Baldwin County Public Schools, Homer served as the CIO at the University of Southern Mississippi, Chief Technology Officer at Firstdoor.com, Dean of Technology at American InterContinental University, Surface Warfare Officer (Commander, Retired), Senior Naval Adviser, Air Command and Staff College, President and CEO of CyberHawk LLC., and served in the Marine Corps.

Homer has been active in COSN, ISTE, and (ALET) Alabama Leaders in Educational Technology. Homer holds a Master of Science degree in Organization Development from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. He holds a second master’s degree in Information Systems from Webster University in St. Louis, MO. He is a graduate of Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, KS., as well as a graduate of Air University Command and Staff College at Maxwell AFB. He holds a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice. Homer's military qualifications include completing requirements and being selected for Command-At-Sea, (SWO) Surface Warfare Office, (EOOW) Engineering Officer, and (TAO) Tactical Action Officer.
