Dr. Lori Romano

Dr. Lori Romano was appointed Superintendent of Hernando County Public Schools on July 1, 2013.
Grounded by her professional keystone of serving children, Dr. Romano’s leadership is guided by her core convictions of continuous improvement, growing future educational leaders and nurturing lasting relationships within a broad network of community partners.
With a career built of diverse leadership opportunities, Dr. Romano brings a spirit of possibility and innovative thinking to her tenure as Superintendent and is known for asking, “How do we grow as an organization today to meet the needs of students in the future?”
Dr. Romano’s previous professional experiences include:
- Director of Adult, Community, Secondary and Virtual Education with the Martin County School District in Stuart, Florida.
- Director of the State Personnel Development Grant, Program Evaluator and Coordinator of Research and Program Development with the Florida Department of Education.
As well as assistant director of special education, assistant principal at the middle school level and as a teacher of students with learning disabilities.
Dr. Romano received her Ph.D. from Virginia Tech in Special Education and Educational Leadership, an M.S. in Educational Counseling from Auburn University, and a B.S. in Elementary Education/Special Education from Troy State University.
